By Christopher Slack on July 8, 2014

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians 5-3 in Derek Jeter’s final return to Cleveland.

The Yankees started pitcher Shane Greene, who won his first ever major league game Monday night.  Greene actually had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning, but gave up a two-out home run to Nick Swisher.  Greene gave up two hits in his six innings pitched.

The Indians countered with the struggling Justin Masterson, who ended up on pitching in two innings, giving up six hits and five runs.

The Indians went on a rally, where they scored a run in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Paul Hoynes, Masterson supposedly met with manager Terry Francona and pitching coach Mickey Callaway after the game.  Masterson is 4-6 on the season.
