Pretty Little Liars: 3 Better "A" Reveals

By Jessi Stickel on August 20, 2015

On August 11 every PLL fan and maybe even people who do not faithfully watch, but want to know who the heck “A” is tuned in to ABC Family to find out the reveal we have been wanting for 6 years.

Yes, we all saw it and were more than confused by it … “A”/Charles DiLaurentis (Ali’s older brother) is actually Cece Drake.

Cece’s character was known to be Alison’s older friend that the other girls really did not know much about. She was also shown in later seasons when Ali was still “missing.” However, we find out that she was Ali’s older brother that was sent away for being dangerous around his younger siblings.

Now Cece explained that she is a transgender and was formally Charles. She and her mother (Jessica) kept it a secret since her father did not accept her as a woman.

It really seems like the writers of “Pretty Little Liars” did not have this planned from the beginning of the series, or even this season. It left us with so many unanswered questions (as always), and they may never get answered.

Here are a few better “A” reveals that make a little more sense.

1. Spencer Hastings

Possibly the best “A” reveal would have been one the victims herself, Spencer Hastings. As we all know Spencer has been struggling with a drug addiction throughout her high school years. A couple seasons back Spencer actually thought she was the one who killed Alison in her backyard and just could not remember because she blacked out from being highly medicated.

Spencer could have been the anonymous “A,” but she only turned into that character when she took her pills. She truly tried to solve the mystery when she was off her medication with the other girls. Which also explains why her mother, father and sister Melissa are constantly trying to hide or cover something up. They could know about what Spencer is like when she takes pills, or at least what she would be capable of.

Miss Hastings did have her crazy moments while she was in Radley, so it would not be too much of a stretch to think she could have a multiple personality disorder or something along those lines. Of course, she would need the help of someone else which could have really been anyone from Rosewood High, like the nerdy boy that befriended Hanna that we haven’t heard of since the 2014 Christmas special episode.

Having Hanna, Aria, Emily, Ali, Mona and Spencer all discover that Spencer is “A” together while Spencer is in a normal state would have literally been jaw dropping and a great twist on the whole plot thinking everyone overlooked her the whole show.

2. Mona Vanderwaal

Although Mona Vanderwaal was accused of being “A” before, the show sort of ruled her out of being “A.” She could have easily pulled it off and shocked all of the PLL fans. Mona used to work for “A,” but she could have just lied and actually have been “A” herself. She definitely has a motive, considering how mean Ali used to be to her when Mona was a “nerd.”

Let’s face it, the girl is crazy smart and kind of just plain crazy (does hitting Hanna with a car ring a bell?). Mona was the first one of the known characters to be trapped in “A’s” underground doll house, which could have been a total lie. Mona could have been controlling the whole thing, and the scenes with Mona and “A,” it could have been Sarah wearing the black hoodie.

Mona could have took in Sarah after she ran away from home years ago and brainwashed her to be her little “A” assistant to do the dirty work. It is almost the perfect spin since Mona has been so close with the girls after being captured by “A.”

3. Toby Cavanaugh

Another great “A” identity would have been Toby Cavanaugh. From the beginning of the PLL series Toby has had somewhat of a grudge from Ali setting his garage on fire. He was a very creepy character until Emily got to know him and later on when Spencer started dating him.

Toby did not even finish high school, and somehow became a cop out of nowhere. He could easily be faking his relationship with Spencer in order to know everything the girls are up to. Now that he is a part of the Rosewood police department, he knows their motives and the girl’s. Toby could be a step ahead of everyone which would make him an impeccable “A” suspect.

Nevertheless, I think I am speaking for everyone when I say we are more than anxious to see what season 7 has in store. This season will probably be the most unique since it skips 5 years ahead of them graduating high school. The girls will have graduated college and be starting their lives as adults. If you haven’t seen the preview for season 7, watch it below.
