Don't Let Stress Get You Down: Finishing the Term Strong

With the end of the quarter or semester drawing near, it’s easy to get bogged down from the stress and start worrying about the future. Don’t worry about it, it happens to just about everyone, but there a couple things to do to that can help relieve this stress.

Taken by Alyssa Irby

First, don’t stress about what all is coming, you will figure out how to get it all done on time. One of my favorite quotes by Frost says, “In three words I can sum up what I have learned about life: It goes on.” This is extremely helpful to remember as finals approach. If it helps you, write down a list of what you need to get done before you go home. Crossing things off a list is extremely satisfactory. You could also organize your work into piles showing what needs to get done as soon as possible and what can a wait a bit longer.

Also, don’t skip on sleep. It is extremely easy to get sick at this point of the year and that would definitely make you feel worse. Be productive during the day so that you have time to go to sleep when night comes. Along with this, try to strategically plan your time so that you have enough time to get everything done and have a little time for yourself as well. This time could be fifteen minutes before you go to sleep or an hour sometime during the day. Taking time to de-stress and forget about the other parts of your day will help you to feel more in control and you are less likely to get stressed.

Lastly, you don’t have to do it all on your own. Make a study session with people you know will get things done and will be constructive to your studying as well. Don’t make plans with people who are known to procrastinate and don’t consistently get things done on time. You and your study buddies can make a check list that you all need to get done and you can check on each other and make sure you are all doing what you need to do.

Everyone knows this is a stressful time, but don’t worry about it. Soon it will all be over and you will get to go relax during the holidays and recharge for next term!
